The soil is a reserve of nutrients derived from alteration of the parent rock, fertilizers and organic matter.
Here are the features of the 4 major components of soil
What is the Argilo-humic complex?
Argilo-humic complex is formed by the binding of clays and humus with other elements. The fixing of the mineral elements on the argilo-humic complex depends on the quantity and the quality of clay and humus that are present in soil.
When it is strongly present in soils, calcium can saturate the clay and humus complex taking most of the space available, it prevents the setting of other elements such as nitrogen, potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc, iron and manganese which will be then leached out.
Elements that are not retained by the argilo-humic complex will be leached.
